Prove the design

    Define the device

    Map inputs, outputs, interfaces, power and operating conditions. Agree what the hardware must do and how that behaviour will be checked.

    Design the system

    Work through component choices, schematics, PCB layout and firmware or FPGA responsibilities as one connected design.

    Bring up a prototype

    Check power, communications and device behaviour on physical hardware. Use the findings to refine the board and its logic.

    Validate the hardware

    Test against the agreed requirements, record remaining issues and identify the engineering work needed before a production handover.
